Tips for Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Zombies
Zombies Tips and Tricks
Are you new to Call of Duty Zombies? This guide should help you get off on the right severed foot. Additionally, there are new features to Black Ops III's Zombies mode, such as GobbleGum and Weapon Kits.
One player and up to three other friends fight hordes of zombies on each map. There is no set wave to finish a Zombies map. All you need to do is kill zombies until everyone dies.

The number of zombies will increase each round. The amount of players that are in the game will also affect the amount of zombies or any other creatures that may appear.
Every Zombies game starts each player off with 500 points and a pistol. At the start of every game it is recommended that you knife the zombies. Zombies in the first round will die with a single melee attack. Ammo can be conserved, and you can get a large amount of points to start saving for barricades and more expensive weapons.
Downs
If a player is hit two to three times by a Zombie or any other creature, five from a zombie after drinking Jugger-Nog, they will be knocked down. When down the player will lose any perk they had purchased. The player will drop down to a sitting pose with a pistol or any other handgun currently in the player's loadout. Downed players can be revived by teammates within 30 seconds. If a player dies, he will be out of the game until the next round begins. When the player comes back to life, he or she will only be equiped with the starting loadout (pistol, grenades, knife), and lose all of their other weapons and perks. However, if the player is revived instead of dying, he will have the same weapons before he was downed, but all Perks will be lost. These coniditions can change depending on the Player's Gobblegum loadout.
Points
Players are awarded points for shooting and killing zombies and any other creatures. Even more points can be earned if a creature is killed in certain ways or with certain weapons.
- Each bullet that hits a creature will award the shooter with 10 Points.
- Killing any creature with a regular weapon will award the shooter with 60 Points.
- Killing any creature with a shotgun, explosive, or upgrade weapon (a.k.a. Wonder Weapon) will award the player with 50 Points.
- Killing a creature by shooting them in the head will award the shooter with 100 Points.
- Killing a creature by stabbing them with a melee attack will award the player with 130 Points.

Use the points to open doors or clear debris to progress further through the maps. Points are also used to buy weapons off walls, buy weapons from the Mystery Box, activate traps, upgrade your weapons through the Pack-A-Punch Machine, and buy Perks from the Perk-A-Cola Machines. Read more about each below.
Experience Points
Black Ops III's Zombies Mode now has its own leveling system. Unfortunately, the points you earn in a zombies game isn't the same as the experience points you need to level up and unlock GobbleGum and Weapon Kits. While it is true that you get some points from the zombies you kill, you also get points from the actions below.
Action | XP | Description |
---|---|---|
Survive | 50+ | Survive a round of Zombies. Each round is multiplied by 50 XP. If you survive round 20, you will earn 1000 XP. |
Open Door | 250 | Open a door around the map. |
Revive | 250 | Revive a downed teammate. |
Challenges | 500 1000 2500 | The most XP is earned by completing challenges, which can be found after pressing pause at the main menu. There are three tiers to most challenges. Completing tier one will give you 500 points. Completing tier two will give you 1000 points. Completing tier three will give you 2500 points. |
Margwa Kill | 250 | Kill a Margwa in Shadows of Evil. |
Apocalypse Ascendant | 500 | Active the Pack-A-Punch in Shadows of Evil. |
Prestige Mode
Prestige Mode allows players to completely reset their ranks and unlocks so they can go through the leveling up experience again in Zombies. The rank icons will be replaced with a new Prestige icon each time a player goes through Prestige Mode.
This mode will be unlocked after earning enough experience points after Level 35 in Zombies. Press the Options/Start button at the main menus, head over to Barracks in one of the two modes and choose Prestige Mode.
You will keel all progress towards weapon cosmetics (camo and paint). In exchange, you will have access to prestige awards. All weapon attachments, optics, and GobbleGum will be re-locked, but Mega GobbleGum will remain unlocked.

Permanent Unlocks | Permanently unlock any item that requires level progression. |

Fresh Start | Completely reset all progress and start from Level 1 as though you never played in Public Match. |
Barriers and Doors
As mentioned earlier, players can buy doors or clear debris using the points from killing zombies. Opening doors and clearing debris is necessary to reach other areas of the map where various weapons and perks are located.
Additionally there are barriers on maps that keep zombies on the outside of the map. The zombies will take down these barriers by ripping each board off before climbing through. Players are awarded 10 points for each plank (six planks per barrier) they rebuild. However, there is a limit to the number of points awarded to a player for rebuilding barriers within a single wave.
Crawlers and Free Time
Survival is definitely tough if zombies are constantly interrupting you before you can buy Perk-A-Colas or upgrade a weapon at the Pack-A-Punch Machine. This is where "crawlers" come in. Crawlers is a term invented by the Call of Duty Zombies community and given to zombies whose legs have been blown off. Use an explosive weapon or piece of equipment to blow off the legs of a zombie, creating a crawler. Most crawlers move much slower than regular zombies. With one or two slow crawlers left on the map, players will have enough time to spend their points on the necessities. Make note: Sometimes a crawler might die completely on its own. If this happens, a new zombie might spawn somewhere on the map. Other times the round ends right there.

Note: In Black Ops III, crawlers will die and respawn almost immediately if another player is not watching them closely. Crawlers are nearly useless on solo.
Run A Train
A common tactic in Zombies games is to have a group of zombies following one player. The player will run around an area on the map to compact them together or form a sort of train. When ready to continue, the player can turn around and shoot all of them in their heads. The head is the most vulnerable spot, and firing in a crowd will harm more with less ammo.
