My favorite dinners at home are quick, easy, convenient and full of protein. I'm always looking for new protein options other than chicken and ground turkey which is what we normally eat. This is why I decided to buy the massive bag of Costco Kirkland Signature Italian Style Fully Cooked Beef Meatballs.

Taste

These aren't as good as homemade meatballs and do taste slightly processed but they're still quite tasty. They're soft and pretty moist on the inside and I didn't have any weird or hard chunks in my meatballs that made me wonder what I was eating.

They do get a little crispy on the outside when cooked but I kind of like that so it doesn't bother me. The Costco Kirkland Signature Italian Style Beef Meatballs taste quite salty and are very seasoned with salt and spices. I actually found them to taste spicy. Even my husband who loves heat and spice pointed out that these tasted a little spicy to him too.

This is disappointing because I feel like the spice makes the meatballs a little less versatile. I wanted to use these meatballs to make my mom's mushroom meatball recipe but I fear the spice wouldn't go well with the mushroom sauce. I enjoyed the taste of the meatballs but wasn't exactly blown away.

Cost

I originally didn't want to buy these because I felt the cost was high, I decided to bite the bullet and pay the $24.99 Canadian for the meatballs (not on sale). This bag of meatballs is actually HUGE and will last us many meals.

When I consider how many meatballs I'm getting and how many meals this will last for my husband and me, the price doesn't seem all that bad. I know I'm definitely paying a little more for convenience but in my opinion, the cost is worth it and is quite reasonable.

Convenience

OHHH YES! I love how convenient these are. I just microwaved these for pasta and they were perfectly cooked and delicious. Not dry, not shriveled up.

I'm not even going to consider trying to cook them the other methods the bag lists. Not only is cooking these convenient, it's so nice to have a bag of these in your freezer for those times you need a quick meal and are lacking a protein.

You could use these in soups, pasta, with mashed potatoes, even in a casserole. I will say that if you don't have a deep freeze and just have a small freezer you might find this giant bag takes up much of your freezer.

Nutrition

These aren't gluten-free or dairy-free. Five meatballs is 180 calories, 10 grams of fat, 14 grams of protein and 590 mg of sodium. These are definitely slightly high when it comes to the amount sodium.

If you decide to eat 10 meatballs you're looking at over 1000mg of sodium. If you're just eating five, the calories and fat aren't bad. I'd love it if there was just a tad more protein in five meatballs. A positive about the meatballs is the first ingredient listed is ground beef!

I would buy these again for convenience sake but not necessarily taste or nutrition, they're tasty enough for me to want to go back to for easy, convenient dinners.

Cost: 7.5/10

Convenience: 9.5/10

Nutrition: 5/10

Taste: 7.5/10

I'm looking for ways to use these other than with pasta – any recipes or ideas?
